Ongoing project
The urban landscape of the Parisian suburb is changing : the “Grand Paris Express” project and its four brand new metro lines has started. At the heart of this colossal initiative is a more symbolic line than the others : line 15. It will connect the cardinal points of the “petite couronne” allowing commutes throughout the suburb without passing by Paris. With the construction of the metro it is the architectural identity of the suburb that is evolving. Growing up in the Hauts-de-Seine, I sometimes noticed a dislike for the periphery. But we, as “banlieusards”, find a certain charm to this urban landscape made of high towers, pavilions and industrial wastelands, our suburb has some character. Roaming around the future locations of the stations on line 15, I’m trying to establish a photographic body of these changing territories and to offer them, through the use of film photography, an immutability in time so that is fixed in the duration as on the film, the face of a singular suburb.
FR - Le paysage urbain de la banlieue parisienne est en train de changer ; le projet du “Grand Paris Express” et ses quatre nouvelles lignes a débuté. Au coeur de cette entreprise colossale, il y a une ligne plus symbolique que les autres : la ligne 15. En reliant les quatre points cardinaux de la petite couronne, elle formera une boucle permettant des déplacements de banlieue à banlieue sans passer par Paris. Avec la construction du métro, c’est l’identité architecturale de la banlieue parisienne qui évolue. En grandissant dans les Hauts-de-Seine j’ai souvent constaté un désamour pour celle-ci. Pourtant, la périphérie fait partie intégrante du paysage de la capitale. Pour nous autres, banlieusards, il y a un certain charme à ce panorama urbain fait de hautes tours, de zones pavillonnaires et de friches industrielles, notre banlieue a du caractère. En parcourant les lieux des futures stations de la ligne 15, je cherche à établir un corpus photographique de ces territoires en pleine mutation et à leur offrir, à travers l’utilisation de la photographie argentique une immuabilité dans le temps pour que soit fixé dans la durée comme sur la pellicule, le visage d’une banlieue singulière.
